When overwhelmed, start from scratch

When I am feeling overwhelmed, my natural reaction is to get rid of things. Sometimes in a very radical manner.

I had too many clothes. I was getting angry at my wardrobe. I took on the «project 333 » challenge and got rid of a lot of my clothing items, to only keep 33 of them. It has been a few months, I still did not buy anything that would not replace an existing item.

I don’t see the value of Facebook anymore. Like most people, I had the reflex of checking out Facebook several times a day. I decided to unfollow everyone and leave all groups and will re-join or follow on a case per case basis.

My reading list was ridiculous. 300 articles to read. I emptied it completely and started from scratch. My goal is to only bookmark articles that are really worth it and always share my key takeaways.

I was feeling overwhelmed in Asana with too many tasks. Not all of them were important. Actually, most of them were not. So I moved all tasks to a dedicated project and only kept in front of my eyes the most urgent and important ones.

I don’t feel like I am getting the most out of Twitter. I unfollowed everyone and started from scratch, using lists and only a handpick of people in each list.

Don’t be afraid to start from scratch! I did it a few times in various areas, and never regretted it.
